The Decanter World Wine Awards have represented the most important and authoritative international wine competition for over twenty years. The 2026 edition confirmed the event’s central role on the global wine scene, with almost 17,000 entries from 58 countries blind-tasted by 245 international experts, including Masters of Wine and Master Sommeliers.

This year’s results highlighted the highest quality level in the history of the competition, confirming the steady growth of the wine sector worldwide and rewarding the excellence of territories and producers capable of expressing identity, quality and innovation. In this particularly competitive context, Italy once again stood out among the leading nations, winning 144 top medals, including 6 Best in Show, 29 Platinum and 109 Gold.

This result confirms the extraordinary richness of Italy’s wine heritage and the ability of Italian wineries to compete at the highest international levels. Among the award-winning wines is Maliano Le Torri, which received an important Bronze recognition.

This highly valuable result holds particular significance today for Azienda Agricola Le Torri, representing not only recognition of the quality of the work carried out in the vineyard and in the cellar, but also the first important milestone in a new phase of development. Maliano appears to the eye as an intense ruby-red wine, while on the nose it is elegant and well-balanced, displaying dominant aromas of dark berry fruit alongside fresher, balsamic sensations.

On the palate, it is harmonious and velvety. The tannins are well balanced with the acidity, and the persistence is good. The grapes are 40% Sangiovese, 40% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Sauvignon. The Decanter 2026 award comes at a time of renewal and relaunch for the estate, accompanying the growth path of the agricultural company and the new direction of the agritourism property — the Wine Resort The Podere. The latter has recently been renovated to offer guests an increasingly authentic experience connected to the local area, where tastings of the estate’s wines remain central. The result achieved at the Decanter World Wine Awards 2026 demonstrates how passion, attention to quality and respect for territorial identity can translate into prestigious international recognition, helping to strengthen the image of Italian wine excellence around the world.
